1650 Wewatta is a 21-story apartment building to be constructed at the corner of 17th and Wewatta, immediately adjacent to the Commuter Rail Train Hall currently under construction behind Union Station. The project represents about one-third of what’s called the “A” Block development site at Union Station.
The redevelopment of the former Camera site in downtown Boulder took a big step forward Tuesday night when the City Council decided not to “call up” the project for further review.
By not calling it up for a public hearing and council approval, the City Council allows the previous decisions of the Planning Board and the Landmarks Board approving the redevelopment proposal to stand.

“The real estate development company behind the Eleventh and Pearl redevelopment project has received approval from the Boulder Planning Board and Landmark Board for one of the most noteworthy redevelopment projects to happen in Boulder. Karlin envisions two office buildings that would total 159,000 square feet and have space for ground-floor retail, restaurants and a movie theater. The Boulder Planning Board voted 4-3 to approve the project at its Sept. 13 meeting.”
