SA+R was fortunate enough to get to participate in the ground-breaking ceremony for the University of Denver’s new Burwell Center for Career Achievement last Thursday, June 6th. This addition to DU’s campus was made possible thanks to a $5 Million gift from the Rodney and Barbara Burwell Family Foundation.
The 23,000SF building will house career and alumni programming with a focus on student career development, employer engagement, and alumni activities and events. The project will be one of the first all mass timber buildings in Colorado and is also aspiring to be one of the first v4 LEED Platinum buildings in Colorado. Planned for a 2020 opening, the design has been led by the team at Lake Flato, with SA+R providing local architectural support. A great example of successful team collaboration all around, the DU Campus Planning and Architecture staff has also been significantly engaged in the building’s design and coordination, resulting in masterful insight into how this building will serve the campus community for generations to come.
