West Middle Creek is a multi-family housing project located across I-70 from Lionshead Village in Vail Colorado. The project is a major component in the Town of Vail’s efforts to provide deed restricted housing for the betterment of the community. The project consists of 268 units and 258 parking spaces. In addition, amenities include a fitness center, co-working, and social lounge, and exterior elevated courtyards. The project is sited on a steep mountain-side slope, and the proposed design is derived from a culmination of managing the constraints of the site, creative approaches to earth retention, and prioritizing the quality of the living units. The result is a cohesive yet appropriately scaled design that enhances the quality of the built environment of Vail while addressing its critical need for housing.
