Amli Uptown
Denver, ColoradoLocated in Denver’s historic Uptown neighborhood at the intersection of 17th & Pearl streets, the Bespoke Uptown development offered a unique opportunity to bring more residents and retail to a highly commercial, walkable district – carefully. Given the neighborhood’s long history, dating back to the turn of the 20th Century, respecting and preserving the unique character of the district was of utmost importance for this project’s success from day one.
Under the leadership of SAR+, the project team undertook a significant community engagement process with neighborhood groups, the City of Denver, and Historic Denver, to help protect the character of the 17th Street commercial corridor while still achieving the development’s residential program goals. Ultimately garnering a re-zoning approval from the city, the project not only incorporated the adaptive re-use of one historic commercial building on the Southeast corner but also incorporated the façade of an additional retail storefront, preserving the street frontage’s multi-textured character.
