We’re excited to celebrate eight promotions this spring: Stephen Kirmse to Senior Associate, and Christina LoConte, Madison Wilson, Casey Alexander, Macy Huffaker, Alastair Huber, Robert Peebles, and Matthew Breen to Associate. Each of these individuals has made a meaningful impact at SAR+, demonstrating a strong commitment to our work, our teams, and the communities we serve. Their dedication and leadership across a wide range of projects continue to elevate both our practice and our office.

Stephen Kirmse | Architect | Senior Associate

Stephen has been a valued member of the SAR+ team for over 13 years, bringing thoughtful design leadership and a deep understanding of complex project delivery. Since earning his master’s degree in Oregon and returning to Colorado, he has contributed to a diverse range of building types, guiding projects through public review and approval processes and playing a key role on several of the firm’s largest multifamily developments. Known for his steady leadership and collaborative approach, Stephen is an integral part of our team, and we’re excited to see him continue to grow in this new role.

Christina LoConte, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, CDT | Architect | Associate

Christina LoConte joined SAR+ in 2022 after making the move from the East Coast to Denver, bringing experience across healthcare, sports, and higher education, with a focus on multifamily housing. She enjoys being involved from design through construction, with a particular interest in exterior detailing and how the built environment influences human well-being. Christina is driven to create spaces that are both technically strong and thoughtfully designed. She is currently leading construction administration for The Oasis, a project in Cherry Creek North.

Robert Peebles | Design Professional | Associate

Robert Peebles brings a diverse background spanning laboratory, residential, office, and educational design. Inspired by early experiences exploring cities, he is passionate about contributing meaningful architecture to urban environments. He approaches design as a blend of art, psychology, and technical rigor, with a focus on creating engaging, people-centered spaces. Robert is also actively involved in SAR+’s single-stair initiative, helping raise awareness and explore solutions for Denver’s missing middle housing.

Casey Alexander | Architect | Associate

Casey Alexander has been with SAR+ since 2019, working across a wide range of project types – from mountain master planning and workforce housing to urban infill and adaptive reuse. Her work is grounded in a people-first approach, shaping connected, community-driven places. She holds a Master of Architecture from UC Berkeley and is driven by a belief in design’s ability to foster community and social responsibility. Casey is currently contributing to the Ball Arena Redevelopment and the reimagining of the Winter Park base area.

Alastair Huber, AIA | Architect | Associate

Alastair Huber brings over 20 years of experience across a broad range of project types, including airports, healthcare, education, and multifamily housing. A long-time member of Denver’s architectural community and former chair of the Colorado Building Enclosure Council, he has a deep focus on durability and long-term performance through high-quality building envelopes. At SAR+, he leads major projects such as WonderBlock in Ogden and is known for his hands-on, detail-driven approach.

Madison Wilson | Architect | Associate

Madison Wilson joined SAR+ in 2023 and brings experience across project types ranging from tenant improvements to large-scale master planning, primarily in commercial office, retail, and hospitality sectors. Dedicated to Denver and its continued evolution, she serves as a Commissioner on the Lower Downtown Design Review Commission. She is on the Ball Arena Redevelopment team, focusing on entitlements for the vertical development while contributing to the Infrastructure Master Plan shaping the site’s horizontal framework. Madison is also the Project Architect for the Gems and Minerals Exhibit Hall renovation at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, where she plays a key role in coordinating across disciplines to support the exhibit hall renovation.

Matthew Breen | Architect | Associate

Matthew Breen is an experienced architect and project manager with over a decade of experience in multifamily and mixed-use design. Since joining SAR+ in 2020, he has led several key housing projects, including Deer Valley Ski Rail, The Village at Mines Park, and Conifer Commons in Winter Park, while contributing to a range of other affordable housing developments. He brings a thoughtful, solutions-oriented approach to delivering impactful, community-focused projects.

Macy Huffaker, AIA | Architect | Associate

Macy Huffaker is a Denver-based architect with over eight years of experience and a strong focus on sustainable design and mass timber construction. She led the design of the Mines Park student housing project at Colorado School of Mines and is currently serving as project architect for MSU Denver’s 12-story mass timber residence hall. Macy is also a passionate mentor and collaborator, always looking for ways to push innovation within the AEC industry.
